Isonomia Research conducts telephone survey research in the United Kingdom using artificial intelligence.
Interviews are administered by an artificial intelligence interviewer: the respondent's speech is transcribed, a large language model determines what is spoken next, and that is delivered as synthesised speech. We refer to this mode as AI-CATI. Fieldwork may be conducted using random digit dialling (RDD).
This approach is intended to make probability-sample telephone research viable at a cost and pace that has become difficult to sustain with conventional fieldwork. AI-CATI may also be coupled with panels in dual-frame sampling for cross-frame calibration.
Calls and transcripts are reviewed for participant welfare and data quality.
